Shots fired in Aiken Walmart parking lot; possible victim found later, police say

Police believe the gunshot wound of a person found at an area hospital is connected to a dispute between several people at the store.

AIKEN, S.C. — Gunfire at a South Carolina Walmart appears to have had at least one victim on Sunday.

According to the Aiken Department of Public Safety, officers responded to a shooting in the parking lot of the Aiken Walmart located at 2035 Whiskey Road. Witnesses told police there was a fight involving several people that resulted in gunfire at a vehicle.

Police said the people involved in the shooting left before they arrived, but authorities learned that a person later arrived at Aiken Regional Medical Center with a gunshot wound. Police believe this is connected to the early fight, though the investigation is still underway.

Police haven't publicly identified the shooting victim or any other person potentially involved in the case.
