SUMTER COUNTY, S.C. — Two suspects charged in the murder of a Rembert man are now facing additional charges related to the shooting.
Terone Justin McCray and Nia Laprece Wright were arrested Wednesday, August 7, 2024, for the murder of Jaquen Marquel Jefferson of Rembert on Sunday morning, August 4, 2024. They are now facing additional charges related to the incident.
The suspects shot into the vehicle in which Jefferson was a passenger and another person was driving. The gunshots that struck the vehicle and killed Jefferson, fortunately, missed the driver, who escaped injury. As a result, deputies also charged McCray and Wright with attempted murder, possession of a weapon during a violent crime, and discharging a firearm into an occupied vehicle.
A judge has denied McCray and Wright's bond. They are awaiting trial at the Sumter County Sheriff’s Office Detention Center.
