KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. — A man who was wanted in connection with gunfire into a home over the weekend was arrested on Thursday after he allegedly took an ax to a vehicle on the same road on Thursday.
Investigators said they were initially called to a home on Linde Lane regarding damage by gunfire on Saturday morning. According to an incident report from the Kershaw County Sheriff's Office, the victim reported the gunfire just before 9 a.m. but said it happened closer to 3 a.m. The investigating deputy found multiple gunshots in the home in the walls and furniture of the bedroom and living room.
The victim shared voice messages and texts that 59-year-old Edwin Isaac Williams allegedly sent that included threats and profanity. The sheriff's department was working to secure warrants for his arrest following that incident.
On Thursday, a deputy was again called to Linde Lane. According to the filed report of that incident, dispatch informed the deputy that Williams was at the scene "chopping" a car parked in the driveway. Dispatch also said the suspect was banging on the front door and screaming at the victim.
The report states Williams calmed down upon seeing the deputy, who asked why he was there. The suspect said he had arrived to get his belongings and claimed the car was his and "I got my ax and I'm gonna chop it up."
The report states the deputy detained the suspect and placed him in handcuffs, at which point the victim walked out, demanding he stay away from them. At this point, the report states Williams "became very irate by screaming and using profanties."
Williams was ultimately arrested and charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature and discharging firearms into a dwelling. No bond has been set at this time.
