KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. — An elderly woman who died after being struck by two vehicles while trying to cross a road in Kershaw County has been identified by the coroner's office.
According to Master Trooper William Bennett with the South Carolina Highway Patrol, the crash happened shortly before 9 p.m. on White Pond Road near Haigs Creek Drive, roughly two miles outside Elgin.
Bennett said a 2013 Ford pickup truck was heading south on White Pond Road when it hit a pedestrian in the roadway. A northbound 2019 Honda minivan then struck the pedestrian. The victim, later identified by the Kershaw County Coroner's Office as 83-year-old Nettie Hubbard of the Elgin area, died at the scene.
Trooper Williams said two people were in the Ford truck and four in the Honda van. None reported injuries. Coroner David West said Hubbard appeared to be crossing White Pond Road, heading toward a Shell gas station, when the vehicles struck her.
The South Carolina Highway Patrol and the Kershaw County Coroner's Office are still investigating the crash.
