Forest Acres Police investigate crash involving Richland One bus

Police said an adult activities bus was driving behind the van when, according to witnesses, the van stopped suddenly on Beltline Boulevard on Thursday.

FOREST ACRES, S.C. — Paramedics took one person to the hospital after a crash involving a school district bus in Forest Acres on Thursday.

Forest Acres Police said the crash happened in the 2000 block of Beltline Boulevard when, according to witnesses, a van stopped suddenly in front of an adult activities bus owned by Richland County School District One. Police said the van rolled over on impact. The van driver was out of the vehicle and walking around at the scene but was taken to the hospital for evaluation.

Only the driver was on the bus at the time of the crash and was not injured, police said.

Police cited the bus driver for following too closely. Police initially cited the van driver for not having a valid driver's license but dropped the citation when the driver produced a license at the hospital.
