COLUMBIA, S.C. — Authorities have released the name of a pregnant woman found dead in a Richland County home on Wednesday and identified the man charged with her murder.
According to previous reports from the Richland County Sheriff's Department, deputies were called to a home on Northfield Court off Longtown Road around 11 a.m. by someone who looked inside the house and saw the victim unresponsive on the floor.
Deputies forced their way into the home and further determined that the victim had significant trauma to her head. Emergency medical personnel pronounced her dead at the scene. The child the woman was carrying also died.
On Friday, the Richland County Coroner's Office identified the victim as 31-year-old Chandreka D. Graham of Columbia. The coroner's office described Graham's manner of death as a homicide but didn't release the cause.
The Richland County Sheriff's Department previously announced that it had identified a suspect, 35-year-old Jerrod Graham, who was later charged with murder and death or injury to a child in utero during a violent crime. Graham is being held at Alvin S. Glenn Detention Center.
At the time, the sheriff's department said there was no threat to the community.
