All safe after boat rescue on Wateree River

KERSHAW COUNTY, S.C. — Everyone is back on land and safe after a boat rescue on the Wateree River Sunday afternoon. 

The Kershaw County Fire Service announced around 1:40 p.m. that it was working with the Camden and Lugoff fire departments and Kershaw County Emergency Medical Services to rescue multiple people off a sinking vessel roughly one mile south of the Lake Wateree dam. Authorities said the vessel was "in the rocks" at the time.

Around 2 p.m., Kershaw Fire said crews had rescued all occupants and returned them to land. No injuries were reported.
