ROCK HILL, S.C. — A South Carolina woman attributes a recent big lottery win to her gut instinct.
The woman picked up a $10 ticket from the Shell gas station on Saluda Street in Rock Hill and scratched it off before leaving. That's when she learned she had beat one in 960,000 odds and won $300,000.
According to South Carolina Education Lottery officials, she described the win as unbelievable. The winner said she bought the ticket because she was feeling lucky, and the win proved that to be accurate. She said she plans to use the money from the Power 777 win to travel and make memories.
The company that operates the shell station, Janmangal Inc., also got a bit of the winner's luck since they received $3,000 in commission for selling the winning ticket. Officials said there are still three top prizes in the Power 777 game.
